Our Philosophy

Many of our modern society's commercial pharmaceuticals have botanical origins. A promising substance is found, then it is isolated and concentrated to make modern medications.

The parent plant source contains a variety of other compounds and constituents that are also medicinal, and often these are lost when a single element is the focus. Traditional botanical uses can have more gentle effects on the body and also have some additional benefits from the rest of the natural compounds found in the plants. Botanical sources can also provide accessible health opportunities for everyone, regardless of income status.

We believe modern medicine definitely has its place in our current healing regimens. We also believe there is merit and benefit that is still relevant from thousands of years of study and documentation of the original use of botanicals in the medicinal realm, from the Middle East to ancient Asian cultures, from the First Nations peoples in the Americas, to old European traditions. Herbalism WAS the practice of medicine up into the early 1900's. Modern medicinal practices and traditional herbalism are not mutually exclusive.

Modern science has been able to corroborate many "folk remedies".  (And, to be fair, it has also disproven some). Due to funding challenges (and lack of desire to pursue study at times, especially where profitability is concerned), not all traditional remedies have yet been employed in official scientific studies. Therefore, many otherwise beneficial plants are relegated to "supplement" status and are not regulated by the FDA, nor can claims be made about their efficacy in an official capacity due to the lack of current scientific backing. We encourage you to look up information about the ingredients that we use, so that you can be knowledgeable and confident in the botanical creations that we are providing to you.
